Healthy Barriers Play a Critical Role in Increasing Headcount in the Warehouse

We reached out to MTAC in November of 2020 to ask if they could offer assistance in our goal to increase our headcount in advance of our busy season. We explained that we needed to source safety dividers for our break room tables. We had already laid out the break room tables to meet social distancing requirements, but that still limited us to a single employee at each table. That math would sharply affect how many associates we could have working on any given work shift. Not only did we need a solution- we needed it fast! Our start date for the holiday push was just 10 days away and on Black Friday we needed to step up our employee count by a considerable margin.

MTAC responded immediately and arranged a site visit the same afternoon we reached out to them. Once on site, we reiterated the need to have a solution in place within 10 days. The representatives from MTAC didn’t waste any time. They got busy gathering math and measurements for the various break rooms and auxiliary break room areas that we had created in the wake of COVID-19. In addition to quantities, they also gathered measurements for the various sizes of tables we were working with. They completed all the calculations and quoted a solution within 24 hours, and we quickly provided a PO to cover the cost.

Getting Started

On Wednesday, November 25th (a full 2 days ahead of schedule) the MTAC team showed up to deliver and deploy nearly 70 different tabletop “Healthy Barriers.” These are rigid goods, made of Lexan polycarbonate, designed to be easily installed with no hardware required, and they can be cleaned with a simple soap and water solution. Just like that, we were ready for the additional employees we had hired to arrive!

We learned that MTAC- working with their business partner, JAG’D EDGE Design – were producing these goods in-house. They didn’t source these finished goods as we thought- they produced them for us.

Following the holiday push, we invited MTAC back to take a closer look at our Employee Entrance area and asked them if they could assist us with creating some more user-friendly materials to protect employees who are stationed at this location to oversee security, loss prevention, health monitoring, and mask distribution. Once again, MTAC provided prompt quotes and we proceeded with their unique solution suggestions. A short time later, they showed up to deploy their goods, and we were all incredibly impressed. The Employee Entry barriers are sturdy, stand-alone units that we can easily break down and re-deploy as needed. On top of that flexibility, they even included our facility mascot logo on several of the installed Healthy Barriers to aid us in our branding efforts on-site as well as deflect some of the glare and traffic for our thermal camera, which is used to assess whether or not visitors have a fever. They built us a unique and effective solution and we appreciated their attention to detail.

Growing Together

It was immediately clear that MTAC truly had a handle on their solutions, and we were pleased to invite them to take a look at a much bigger set of problems to solve. This time, we wanted to find out if they could aid us in our effort to do a full reset of our facility work stations because our corporate headquarters had developed standards for worker health and safety, and all of the homemade barriers we purchased and produced last year when all of this started were all out of spec per the new tolerances.

MTAC reviewed each and every location we asked them to and gathered all the appropriate measurements. This was a much larger request compared to the others, so their turn-around to quote took a little longer than the previous engagements. Also, we asked them to prioritize the locations according to our traffic patterns and biggest concerns. They obliged and presented us with a fair and well-reasoned budget. As of Spring 2021, we are proceeding with this next group of Healthy Barriers and we know MTAC will deliver them in the order of priority we stated. They have proven that’s who they are and that’s what they do. They study the need, present the price, execute the project, and make it all look easy.

If you haven’t had an opportunity to work with this group, we recommend you take a closer look at them and their goods and services. We encourage you to reach out to MTAC and invite them into your space to help solve your existing issues and we are confident you will be pleased with who they are, what they do, and how they do it. We sure are!
